Encaustic Wax

In 2017, I removed myself from temperamental clay work to focus on larger-scale sculpture. After much trial and error, I settled on creating a papier-mâché form and agonizingly sought the perfect pairing to enhance the surface. I began with the encaustic wax method referred to as "accretion," achieved by repeatedly brush-stroking hot wax over my form to create a sculptural surface. I have since been using a rattan reed substructure, augmented at times with fabric. Here, once again, fiber creeps into my art toolbox in unconventional ways.
