“I believe that by choosing to disregard the conventional rules for a material, I can work with complete creative freedom.”
Explore A Reboot of Tradition
Porcelain became my material of choice for its smooth, creamy texture — some liken it to brick cream cheese.
I began with the encaustic wax method referred to as "accretion," achieved by repeatedly brush-stroking hot wax over my form to create a sculptural surface.
I was completing a sculpture when I noticed a handful of reed resting on my studio shelf. It was the perfect material to resolve the sculpture.
My forms and materials are a reboot of traditions: knitting, woven wall hangings, vessels from metal, wood, clay.
